What is Calcium acetate?
Calcium acetate is one kind of calcium salt of acetic acid. As a chemical compund ,Its formula is Ca(C2H3O2)2. Its standard name is calcium acetate, and many people call it calcium ethanoate . Monohydrate (Ca(CH3COO)2•H2O) is the common form because it is hygroscopic.

Calcium Acetate Solubility
1.Calcium acetate is easily soluble in water, its solubility is 37g /100mL water at 0℃, and the solubility is 30g/100mL water at 100℃.
2. Insoluble in ethanol, insoluble in acetone and benzene.

What Is Calcium Acetate Used For ?
1.Used as an analytical reagent.
2.Used as a food stabilizer, corrosion inhibitor, and acetate synthesis.
3.Used in the production of acetone, acetic acid and polyester industries.
4.Calcium acetate is one kind of food calcium fortifier, and the absorption effect is better than that of inorganic calcium. It can be used in foods for infants and children, the usage amount is 3.0～6.0g/kg (calculated as elemental calcium, the same below); it is 1.6～3.2g/kg in cereals and its products,; it is 0.6～0.8 g/kg in liquid and milk beverages.
5.Chelating agent; antifungal agent; stabilizer; buffer; flavoring agent; preservative; curing agent; nutrition fortifier; Ph value regulator; processing aid.

Calcium Acetate Side Effects
Calcium acetate has some side effects as food additive: occasionally belching and constipation .
It can cause increased secretion of rebound gastric acid if some people suffers from hypercalcemia and renal insufficiency.
